The firm made the commitment during the Startup Summit Nigeria 2024, themed “Unleash the Power of Startups” which kicked off in Lagos according to a statement released by the firm on Thursday in Abuja by the communications manager, Oyin Ajayi.
According to the statement, over 150 industry startups, venture capitals and partners in Nigeria gathered to share ideas on startup innovation, ecosystem collaboration, and digital transformation.
The Director of Huawei Cloud, Hugo Hu who was quoted to have delivered the keynote address called on Nigerian startups to jointly innovate and shape the future of Nigeria digital economy.
“The Nigerian startup ecosystem is expanding significantly. However, the path of innovation is not only full of opportunities but also challenges such as technology, funding, data security and compliance,” Hu said while adding that the key to accelerating innovation is to embrace the cloud.
“Huawei Cloud is committed to providing an ecological platform for Nigerian startups, as well as enabling startups to get cost-effective cloud resources with ease and reach business opportunities at a faster pace. We strongly believe Huawei Cloud is a better choice for Nigerian startups”.
It was also disclosed in the statement that Huawei Cloud is committed to “empowering 100 Nigerian startups to innovate and grow on Huawei Cloud over the next two years. “
The Ecosystem Director of Huawei Cloud Nigeria, Paul Adigun said that through three key initiatives — advanced cloud platform, startup talent development, and business resources, Huawei Cloud startup program will provide startups with leading cloud-native infrastructure, professional services, and up to $150,000 credit voucher for cloud adoption.
The statement states that Huawei Cloud aims to build a cloud foundation for an intelligent world leveraging the concept of “Everything as a Service”. Huawei Cloud will launch a Local Cloud in Nigeria in 2024.
