At a recent World Press Conference held at the ADC global campus in Abuja, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed the pressing issues facing Nigeria today. The conference, attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BOT), and other stakeholders, aimed to shed light on the critical challenges plaguing the nation and to propose a way forward.
Chief Nwosu began by acknowledging the sacrifices made by committed patriots in the face of a harsh and tyrannical political environment. He highlighted the numerous socio-economic challenges confronting Nigerians, including unsafe roads, exorbitant transportation costs, unaffordable food prices, and a deteriorating security situation characterized by rampant kidnappings.
Expressing deep concern over the state of the nation, Chief Nwosu condemned the government’s ineffective palliative measures, labeling them as dehumanizing and unsustainable. He criticized the diversion of public funds towards extravagant spending by elected officials while the majority of Nigerians continue to suffer.
Furthermore, Chief Nwosu denounced the recent increase in fuel prices, taxes, and electricity tariffs, which further exacerbate the plight of ordinary citizens and drive businesses away. He emphasized the urgent need for a strategic roadmap to address the country’s economic woes and restore investor confidence.
In response to these challenges, Chief Nwosu called for decisive action and collaboration among political parties and leaders to chart a new course for Nigeria. He stressed the importance of building a value-driven ecosystem that prioritizes the well-being of the people and fosters economic prosperity.
In conclusion, Chief Nwosu appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to halt the corruption of the palliative regime and provide support to entrepreneurs, farmers, and security operatives. He also urged governors to relinquish control over local councils to enable grassroots development.
The ADC remains committed to championing collaboration, coalition-building, and alliances to bring about positive change in Nigeria. Chief Nwosu reiterated the party’s determination to work towards building a new Nigeria that will serve as a beacon of hope for the entire African continent.
