The Anambra State Police Command said that the remaining three victims of the recent boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor John Pope Odowodo have been found.
Recall that on Wednesday, the actors on their way to a movie location were believed to have died after a boat incident claimed the lives of two people, while seven were rescued.
Following the incident, three people were reported to be missing.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police public relations officer, said in a statement on Friday that two of the remains were retrieved on Thursday and the last was washed up by the tide on Friday morning.
He also stated that Aderemi Adeoye, the state’s commissioner of police, has asked commuters to use caution when crossing the rivers.
“Two of the bodies were recovered yesterday 11th April, 2024 while the last was washed in by the tide this morning,” Ikenga said in a statement.
“All of the bodies have been deposited in the Asaba hospital mortuary, and the president of the Actors and Actresses Guild has been notified of the recovery.”
The commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has encouraged all water commuters to be safety alert and avoid behavior that could endanger their own and others’ safety while on the water.
He promised an expeditious investigation into the tragic catastrophe that took the lives of five actors. He also praised the command’s marine unit and commander for their commitment to service.”
