Oshiomhole tendered his apology while welcoming him and other decampees into the party in Benin, Edo State.
Among the decampees, were former local government chairmen, including John Akhigbe, former Etsako Central Local Government chairman; Dr Josie Ogedegbe, Igueben; Frank Ilaboya, Owan West; Andrew Osigwe, Owan East; Napoleon Agbama, Uhunmwonde; Scott Ogbemudia, Ovia North East; Austin Okoibhole, Esan North East and Mrs Ruth Osahor, Esan West and others.
He stated that supporting Senator Ehigie Uzamere against the candidacy of Matthew Urhoghide was one of the biggest mistakes he has made, adding that his decision made the party lose Edo South to PDP twice.
He said, “I was wrongly advised. I will not blame those who misled me but I accept the responsibility that I took to support former Senator Uzamere. The late Esongban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri told me, my son, you made a mistake.
“There are several others who spoke in the same vein. Urhoghide also came to me and said, Comrade, this your decision to support someone else against me, I pray and believe that you will regret it sooner than later.
“After Uzamere won and became a Senator, he returned to PDP. God then decided to use Urhoghide to teach us a lesson. So, for two consecutive elections, spanning eight years, Urhoghide beat APC in the Edo South Senatorial zone for two terms. “
Urhoghide, who was made the party’s governorship campaign director general said he was happy to be back to the party he co-founded.
Urhoghide also said he believes the APC will do better after its victory at the poll in September.
He called on all the party faithful to go all out to solicit votes, noting that it is the time to work. It
On his part, the state APC acting chairman, Jarrett Tenebe apologised for whatever decisions he may have taken that might offended the party.
He promised to keep doing his best to woo members from other political parties into the APC as democracy is a game of numbers.
