Former Liverpool defender, Steve Nicol, has urged the Anfield giants to go all out and sign Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, signed a new contract with the Italians last December that saw him earning a monthly salary of €1.5m, almost doubling his previous earnings.
Despite penning a new contract that has a £113m release clause, the Nigeria international is not short of suitors as he has emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers by top clubs across Europe after scoring 31 goals in 39 appearances last season and guiding Napoli to their first-ever league title in over three decades.
In an interview session with ESPN, Nicol, who had over 340 appearances playing for Liverpool between 1981 and 1994, suggested that signing Osimhen would be a fantastic move by the Reds.
“The fact is that Salah is leaving, whether this year or next year,” the 62-year-old said.
“Osimhen? I think he would be fantastic for Liverpool, he is the one guy in the world that you need. In the middle of the park, we’ve just signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Endo’s turned out to be incredible, you need someone who will run all day and give it to Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Salah.”
