The accident which at about 6 am involved a Mitsubishi car with number plate JJJ168JF and a truck with registration number T12224LA.
The Spokesperson for the state Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.
Okpe said the Mitsubishi car was suspected to have been on top speed and crashed into the truck wrongfully packed on the road.
She disclosed further that the FRSC Ilaro Unit Command reportedly carried out the rescue operation, adding that the injured victims and the corpses have been taken to General Hospital and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro.
The statement partly reads, “The FRSC Ilaro Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on the Ilaro-Owode route around Iyana Odogo on a crash that occurred at about 0600hrs.
“The crash involved 2(two) vehicles; a Mitsubishi car with registration number JJJ854JH and a truck T12224LA
“A total of 07 persons were involved (04 Male Adults and 03 Female Adults), and 01 female got injured while 02 male adults were killed in the crash.
“The suspected causes of the crash were obstruction and Speed Violation. The injured victims and corpses were taken to General Hospital, Ilaro, and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro”.
Okpe threatened that the Corps would begin clampdown on motorists parking indiscriminately on the road.
Meanwhile, Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, Anthony Uga has frowned at the rate at which vehicles are being packed indiscriminately on road roadside.
Uga has, therefore, directed that the Corp’s Marshall should henceforth begin a routine check on indiscriminate parking and anyone found committing such an infraction should face the wrath of the law.
He further advised motorists to drive within the stipulated speed limit and observe road furniture.
