The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed dismay and disappointment over a recent request made by the Director-General of GDM, a political arm of the Honorable Member representing IDEATO Federal Constituency, Most Holy St Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere. In a press release issued on May 3rd, 2024, CUPP criticized the timing of the request, highlighting concerns over the sudden interest in assisting IDEATO indigenes who participated in the current police recruitment process.
While acknowledging the role of the Honorable Member in facilitating job opportunities for constituents, CUPP raised objections to the timing of the assistance advertisement. The police recruitment process, which began in January 2024, saw IDEATO applicants undergo rigorous screening and testing processes without any intervention or assistance from the Honorable Member or his team.
Applicants from IDEATO nation navigated through physical screening, aptitude tests, and medical examinations unaided, with many facing disqualification at various stages. CUPP emphasized that successful applicants had already demonstrated their merit and resilience without external assistance.
Citing the sudden involvement of the Honorable Member’s office as “harvest time for those who didn’t sow,” CUPP criticized the indifference shown towards IDEATO constituents throughout the recruitment process. The statement highlighted the loss of approximately 70 IDEATO applicants due to lack of support compared to less qualified applicants from other constituencies.
Nze Dr. Modesty Vitus Ezenwa, the Spokesman of CUPP, IDEATO Nation, condemned the belated attempt to associate with the success of IDEATO applicants, emphasizing that their achievements were attained without intervention from the Honorable Member.
In conclusion, CUPP urged Most Holy St Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere to refrain from offering assistance to successful applicants at this late stage, emphasizing that such help comes too little, too late.
