A video of a Nigerian woman weeping uncontrollably over the demolition of her family property is currently circulating on social media.
In the viral clip, the woman revealed that her family had purchased the property in the Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos state in February 2024.
However, only two months later, it was marked for demolition by the government and subsequently demolished.
The woman, who was filmed crying her eyes out, lamented bitterly about losing the property only two months after moving in, and decried the amount spent on acquiring the property.
Her words,
“All the work, all the sleepless night, everything. If you are in Lagos, you will know how much properties in Eti-Osa cost. You know how much properties in Eti-Osa cost. Each time my son sees me crying, he would always say Mummy you have been crying. How do I explain to my son? What do I tell my children? This is very painful. I don’t wish anybody a thing like this. I don’t wish anybody to work so hard, so tireless and face something like this. I don’t”
This follows the Lagos state government’s recent move to demolish properties constructed on waterways in the state.
Some buildings were also demolished to facilitate the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
