The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the payment of June salary to workers in the state beginning from Monday.
The gesture is to ensure that workers in the state celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir comfortably.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday.
Bawa said the payment covers state civil servants, local government staff, and pensioners in the state.
The statement read, “The payment covers state civil servants, local governments and local government education authority.
“It also includes pensioners across the state.”
The statement further conveyed the governor’s wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah for a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The statement added that the governor, upon assumption of office has been “paying the salary of workers in the state between the 20th and 21st of every month.”
