The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has paid June salaries and pensions of workers and pensioners in Edo State, ahead of the Sallah celebration.
This is in fulfilment of his promise to the workers on Wednesday, during the inauguration of the Edo State Secretariat Complex, in Benin City.
In a statement on Friday, the state Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said, “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has paid June salary of workers and pensions in.
“This is in line with the government’s long-standing practice of meeting its salary obligations before the 26th of every month and to enable our Muslim brothers and sisters to have a good Sallah celebration.”
The commissioner reassured all that the government will continue to prioritise the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, noting that the holistic reforms in the public and civil service in the state have made Edo the most attractive public employer in Nigeria.
He added, “Civil and public servants in Edo State have continued to promptly get payment of their salaries, even after raising the state’s minimum wage from N40,000 to N70,000, the highest in the country.
“We will continue to place a premium on the workers’ welfare, ensuring they are well-empowered and supported to deliver optimal and quality services to Edo people.”
