World Boxing Council silver featherweight champion, Elizabeth Oshoba, and WBC African champion, Oluwatosin Kejawa, are set to make their ring returns on June 29 at the Brentwood Centre, Essex in the UK, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The announcement was made by British company, Top Tier Boxing Promotions, on Instagram on Tuesday, although their opponents are yet to be named.
Oshoba will be having have her second fight of 2024 on the Mentality Fight Night on June 29. She recently made history as the first female Nigerian boxer to win a world title.
The 24-year-old secured her first world title by knocking out Italy’s Michela Braga (6-0-1) in the 10th round of their bout at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, on January 13. This victory handed Braga her first professional defeat and extended Oshoba’s perfect professional record to seven wins, including four knockouts.
Oshoba’s win marked her second title in less than three months. She previously claimed the IBO female super-featherweight title on November 25, 2023, by defeating another Italian, Martina Righi, via unanimous decision.
Kejawa will be having his first fight of 2024 on the same event. He was recently honoured with the 2023 Neilson Boxing Fight of The Year award alongside his opponent, Tanzanian Abdul Ubaya.
Kejawa and Ubaya fought at the MECA Regent Circus in Swindon, UK, for the World Boxing Council Africa title on November 26, 2023.
It was a memorable fight, with both fighters landing significant blows over 10 rounds. Kejawa sustained a head injury but managed to secure a split decision win, claiming the WBC Africa light-heavyweight title.
It was Kejawa’s 10th professional bout, maintaining his flawless record with 10 victories, including five knockouts. The 22-year-old showcased remarkable determination and skill, securing his first professional title in a significant milestone.
Winning Fight of The Year capped an impressive 2023 for Kejawa, who also secured unanimous wins over Serhii Ksendzov and Darryl Sharp in March and October, respectively, before his split decision victory over Ubaya in December.
Discussing his preparations for the upcoming fight, Kejawa told PUNCH Sports Extra, “I’m feeling good and ready. Training has been going fine, and I have been sparring with some skilled boxers to get myself in shape for the fight.”
As June 29 approaches, both Oshoba and Kejawa are set to make significant comebacks, continuing their impressive careers and aiming for further success in the ring.
