The Ogun State Police Command has begun searching for the body of a 32-year-old son of a police officer said to have drowned in Ogun River.
The victim, identified as Francis Danjuma, who resided in Isheri Olofin community, was said to have left his house around 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2024, to bathe in the river.
According to a police statement obtained by our correspondent, the incident was reported by his father, Deputy Superintendent of Police Danjuma Shaibu, who lives at the Alausa Police Barracks in Lagos State.
City Round learnt that despite extensive efforts by family members and local divers to find the victim, Danjuma’s body had yet to be recovered.
The spokesperson for the state command, Omolola Odutola, who spoke with our correspondent about the incident on Thursday, said police operatives at the Ojodu-Abiodun had begun an investigation to unravel the circumstances behind the incident and recovered the body.
She said, “Upon receiving the tragic news, detectives from the Ojodu-Abiodun division visited the scene and coordinated with local divers and the Olofin Council to search for the body.
“Efforts to locate the body are ongoing. We are also working to uncover the details leading to this unfortunate incident.”
