Nigerian scriptwriter, Opeyemi Akande tackles indigenes of Ogun state over lack of social amenities following the Ojude Oba Festival held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
The Ojude Oba Festival is notable among the Ogun state indigenes to pay homage to the Awujale of the Ijebu kingdom, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
The festival held annually showcases the Ijebu culture through horse riding, and highly fashioned clothing among various age groups and families.
Opeyemi via his Twitter (X) handle expressed his disappointment towards the state after breathtaking and dazzling pictures of the indigenes beautifully dressed at the cultural festival made rounds online.
He explained that the indigenes of Ogun state revolve around the Ojude Oba festival to flaunt their fashion and extravagant lifestyle through their traditional attire, Aso Oke and Adire.
He added that the South Western state lacks the major basic amenities including roads and adequate power supply.
In his tweet,
“Ojude Oba is the only thing they know in that Ogun state. Light dem no get. Road? Nothing. Just Adire and Aso Oke.”
Meanwhile, the post has triggered outrageous opinions from the indigenes online, as many insist the scriptwriter lacks knowledge on the contribution of Ogun State to the Nigerian economy in terms of industrialization, African delicacy, education, and many more.
