Schneider Electric, one of the leaders in energy management and automation, launched a campaign at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, in a move to combat counterfeit products.
The company said in a statement that the initiative was to raise awareness about fake Schneider Electric items, ensuring that consumers are informed about safety, reliability, and authenticity.
Present at the market roadshow were Marketing Communications Manager, Omobolanle Omotayo; Channels Sales Director, Nurudeen Oyedeji; Retail Sales Specialist, Obinna Uche, the Sales Director, Oluwamuyiwa Akinmejiwa and other key personnel.
“The goal of this roadshow campaign is to curb the purchase of pseudo-Schneider Electric products by educating customers about the presence of counterfeit products and teaching them how to identify authorized resellers and distributors.
“One of the ways customers can identify an authorized reseller is through the presence of Schneider Electric signage and the disparity in prices between the pseudo and original,” Omobolanle stated.
The Channels Sales Director, Schneider Electric, Anglophone West Africa, Nurudeen Oyedeji, underscored the critical importance of end-users purchasing from authorised resellers.
He elaborated on the severe consequences of buying knockoffs from unauthorised resellers.
“Purchasing counterfeit products results in zero product warranty, poor quality, non-durability, health and safety risks, and environmental harm. It leads to unnecessary repairs and financial loss.
“Authorised resellers and distributors are present in the Alaba market. All Schneider Electric customers are advised to purchase strictly from these distributors to avoid the detrimental effects of counterfeit products,” Nurudeen explained.
He noted that the initiative reflected Schneider Electric’s proactive approach to combating counterfeit products and ensuring that customers receive the high-quality, reliable solutions they expect.
According to Nurudeen, the sensitisation campaign at Alaba International Market is a crucial step in protecting consumers and maintaining the integrity of Schneider Electric’s brand.
