The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 40-year-old man, Musa Haruna, before an Ekiti State Magistrate Court, Ado Ekiti District for allegedly stealing cables valued at N2m.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, told the court on Tuesday that the suspect and others at large on June 17, at about 10:00a.m in Ado-Ekiti, allegedly conspired to commit the stealing.
Adejare said, “The defendant and others at large on the same date, time and place within the Magisterial District, did steal electric cable wire valued at N2m, property of one Adebisi Olufemi.
“The offence committed is punishable under Sections 421, 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021,” the prosecutor said.
Counsel for the defendant, Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he would not jump bail and would provide credible surety.
The Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant bail of N500,000 and two sureties.
The magistrate said that one of the sureties must be a landed owner and adjourned the case till August 2, for a hearing.
