A 30-year-old father, Mamuda Abubakar, has been arrested for abusing his biological child in Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital.
The Bauchi State Police Command disclosed this arrest in a press release on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil.
The statement noted that in a relentless effort to maintain security in the state, the state police command arrested Abubakar, a resident of Abbo, Chinkani Ward, Giade LGA, Bauchi State, who tied his biological son Adamu Mamuda alias Jumba, aged six, with a chain inside a room at their residence.
It maintained that “a team of detectives dispatched to the scene of the reported incident successfully rescued the child, and the suspect, Mamuda Abubakar, was effectively arrested and is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, state headquarters in Bauchi.”
It added that the suspect explained that he confined the minor to prevent him from going to his maternal grandfather’s house.
“The suspect and the minor’s mother separated five years ago, and the mother has since remarried and no longer lives with her father.
He explained that his son should not visit the grandfather’s house due to the lack of morality among the children there. When the son insisted on going, the suspect became furious and ultimately chained the minor,” the statement revealed.
