Chelsea and Argentina forward, Enzo Fernández has apologized after a video of him and teammates were seen singing racist chants against France national team.
He streamed the video on his Instagram page after the country won the 2024 Copa America.
However, the video was met with harsh criticism from football fans, who termed it racist.
Reacting on his Instagram page, the footballer tendered an apology.
“I want to apologize sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during national team celebrations”.
“The song there includes highly offensive language and there’s absolutely no excuse for negative words”.
“I stand against discrimination in all forms, apologise for getting caught up in euphoria of our celebrations”.
“That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my beliefs or my character”.
“I am truly sorry”.
