A Nigerian point-of-sale (POS) vendor has fallen victim to a cunning 419 scam, losing a staggering amount of ₦400,000.
The incident, which has been captured in a viral video, has left viewers in shock and disbelief.
The video, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a stack of paper neatly arranged to resemble a bundle of cash.
The POS vendor, who is the victim of the scam, can be seen handling the paper and recounting the sad ordeal.
According to the agent, a customer visited her shop to make a transfer of ₦400,000.
The customer dropped the cash, and the transaction was promptly completed.
However, moments after the customer’s departure, the agent discovered, to her horror, that the ₦400,000 had been replaced with a stack of ordinary paper.
“Please, anybody doing POS, be wise,” the caption of the video read.
