This long-anticipated event, “Social Media Security and Surveillance for ”The Scoop,” is scheduled to hold tomorrow, 8th August, 2024, at 294 Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos.
The event is hosted by the CcHUB Communications team in collaboration with Tech and Society Practice and will serve as a very important forum wherein the critical issues of social media security, surveillance in journalism, and digital resilience will be discussed.
The event will focus on some of the key themes, such as methods for preventing infringement on an individual’s privacy while still upholding the integrity of journalists.
It was learnt that the participants will gather various tips on how to minimise the risks and infringements of individual privacy in their work.
Key speakers include some of the most respected professionals in the fields of cyber-security, media, and technosciences:
Wuraola Taiwo is the Project Manager, Digital Security, Co-creation Hub, with a rich legal practice and cybersecurity background. With a background in privacy law, regulatory compliance, and data protection, Taiwo made the seamless career transition from a legal career to a project management role within the cyber security domain. She is known for curating high-value industry events and coordinating influential projects.
Other speakers are Bolanle Olukanni, a dominant media personality, host, and producer hailing from Nigeria and known for her instant presence and insight in commentary. She has been a powerful voice in the African entertainment industry for numerous years. She first achieved success as a co-host on the much-loved talk show “Moments with Mo” and now is the creator and host of the pundit discussion show “The Scoop with Bolanle,” looking at politics, public affairs, and other points of interest in Nigeria.
Joseph Olaoluwa is an award-winning journalist with TechCabal and a senior tech reporter, joining with interests across a wide portfolio, including FinTech, digital rights, mobility, finance, and the economy. As a senior tech reporter, Olaoluwa sends reports and newsletters about this effect and what the future of innovation on the continent holds.
The event will be moderated by Theresa Moses, Editor-in-Chief of Gatmash Media. Moses is an experienced journalist with over ten years of practice in print and new media in Nigeria. She is driven by the passion to tell an authentic story and is committed to credible journalism, having founded Gatmash News, an online news platform.
