The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Dr. Ifalade Oyekan has revealed that the agency is focusing on using technology on Lagos waterways to curb kidnapping, human trafficking and other criminal activities in the state.
Speaking at an interactive session with the media to discuss the role of technology in community policing: creating new perspectives, Oyekan said that agency is rebranding and also taking measures to checkmate officers through GPS monitors,t cameras and drones in Lagos to ensure accountability.
” This event is one of the ways to make people understand what the governor Babajide Samwo-olu is doing in Lagos.
So many people speak about security without understanding it, that is why we called this round table to example to the people and show you around our security architecture.
So that people will know where we are going and where we are coming from.
As an agency that doesn’t use firearms we are on the path to using technology to safeguard life and property.
We are focusing on deploying technology on Lagos waterways to curb kidnapping and human trafficking which is prevalent in those areas.
As we sit in our control room we can monitor our officers from point A to point B to ensure value for money.” He said.
While addressing the issues of state Police in Nigeria and Lagos in particular, the chairman hosuse committee on information, security and strategy, Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode encouraged the officers and men of the agency to continue in their good work.
” I am here to charge and encourage you to continue your good work, we are working hard to make sure that all the states conform to the issue of state Police as is an idea of the president, we are all working towards having a secured community through adequate policing.
Lagos State assembly seriously supports the agency and it’s doing their best to provide all they need to work because Lagos is a very progressive state and we have been clamoring that zero tolerance for crime and criminality, we work hand in hand towards achieving that.
The general manager is not just passionate about the job but he is also a prince here in Lagos and we can see all the effort he has been putting into it.
We will look out for more from this agency and whatever assistance they need will be made available by the speaker honorable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.” He concluded.
