Emmanuella Ohajianya, founder of Licious Intimate, a Nigerian lingerie brand providing comfortable, stylish undergarments for women of all shapes and sizes in an exclusive interview with GATMASH NEWS talks about her concerns about Gen Z’s bra-free habits, passion for creating comfortable and stylish lingerie for Nigerian women at the recent 7th Edition of the GTCO Fashion Weekend.
Ohajianya’s brand aims to revolutionize lingerie for Nigerian Women was borne out of necessity to cater to women of all shapes and sizes, emphasizing comfort and morality in the lingerie industry.
“My journey began with my personal struggle to find comfortable, well-fitting bras. Recognizing a market gap, I created Licious Intimate” she added.
Highlighting challenges faced by Nigerian entrepreneurs, particularly in manufacturing, Ohajianya said electricity supply, access to funding, business-friendly policies, high production costs, lack of government support, inadequate infrastructure amongst other.
However, she appealed to the government to support startups. “We Nigerians can achieve greatness with the right support,” Ohajianya emphasized.
When asked on the Bra-Free Movement among Gen Z, “if it’s due to high cost of brasserie or just trend and its impact on her business expressed concerns about the growing trend of Gen Z women abandoning bras, citing its impact on her business and moral implications.
“It’s immoral to walk out of your home without a bra, regardless of your size or shape,” Ohajianya stressed. “As women, we should dress modestly and respectfully.”
However, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase her brand at the GTCO Fashion Weekend. “I’m thrilled to be part of this prestigious event, showcasing Nigerian talent and innovation. The platform has provided invaluable exposure and networking opportunities for Licious Intimate.”
