The 7th GTCO Fashion Weekend provided a platform for ADIRA clothing brand to shine, showcasing its empowering and affordable fashion. In an exclusive interview with GATMASH NEWS, Founder Omofolahan Olowu shared her inspiring story.
ADIRA, meaning “building identity” in Italian, Hebrew, and Latin, creates relatable and strong clothing for everyday women. As a diaspora returnee, Olowu leverages her international experience to craft fashionable and affordable pieces.
Despite Nigeria’s economic challenges, ADIRA maintains affordability selling for ₦35,000 – ₦50,000. Olowu cited fuel price increases and dollar to naira exchange rate fluctuations as challenges.
“We’re trying to stay affordable, but the economy is tough,” she said.
Olowu praised GTCO for supporting small businesses.
“GTCO, thank you; the opportunity is immense. They’re giving you a platform to just shine and do whatever you need to do.”
She highlighted challenges: such as fuel prices and light issues, salary increases, and online transaction challenges. Yet, she remains optimistic, citing progress in ease of doing business and online transactions.
The GTCO Fashion Weekend showcases Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through fashion, bringing together talented designers, models, and enthusiasts. It highlights the nation’s eclectic style and creative prowess.
