Celebrity makeup artist and global beauty entrepreneur Patrick Ta brought star power, technique, and hard-earned wisdom to the recently concluded GTCO Fashion Weekend 2025, where he delivered a masterclass that left attendees buzzing long after the lights dimmed.
Making his first-ever appearance in Lagos, Ta was greeted with thunderous applause as he stepped on stage—an unmistakable sign of how deeply his artistry and brand have resonated with the Nigerian beauty community.
With over 4 million followers on Instagram, clients ranging from Gigi Hadid to Ariana Grande, and a globally celebrated cosmetics line—Patrick Ta Beauty—the Vietnamese-American artist arrived ready to share the story and strategy behind his meteoric rise.
Patrick Ta is globally recognized for what he calls “wearable red carpet makeup”—the perfect balance between natural skin and full glam.
Speaking on the GTCO stage, he broke down the philosophy behind his iconic Major Glow look:
“I want the makeup to look good in person so if someone is looking at you face-on, it doesn’t look like you have so much on—but it still photographs beautifully.”
He revealed clever tricks behind his technique, including one that surprised attendees:
“Sometimes, I leave a little bit of space in the crease and stop concealer there. I use the natural darkness of the under-eye to build the eyeshadow.”

The audience murmured in admiration as he demonstrated subtle blending techniques, explaining how understanding a model’s bone structure is essential in modern beauty artistry.
Ta’s journey wasn’t glamorous at the beginning. He shared candidly how he once owned a nail and tanning salon that went bankrupt—an experience that pushed him into makeup artistry.
“I’m self-taught. Growing up, I watched YouTube videos. I wish I did assistant work but I never got the opportunity.”
His big break came when actress Shay Mitchell discovered him on Instagram. That moment, he said, changed everything.
Today, Patrick Ta Beauty is a multi-million-dollar brand sold globally and loved for its blush duos, brow wax, glow balms, and eyeshadow palettes.
For Ta, beauty is more than makeup—it is identity and empowerment.
Growing up as a first-generation Vietnamese-American, he faced bullying about his weight and ethnicity. He openly credits beauty for helping him reclaim confidence and voice.
“Beauty allowed me to be myself, to find my voice, and to be seen.”
The crowd responded with applause, particularly young makeup artists who saw their own journeys reflected in his.
Ta didn’t shy away from the business side of the industry.
He revealed how he grew from a solo artist to co-founding a global beauty brand.
“When I first started my brand, I had private backing. One of my clients, Rima, started the brand with me. Two years ago, we took private equity so we could expand into new markets.”
He emphasized strategic decision-making over hype—urging entrepreneurs to think long-term rather than rush launches.
“I wanted to expand thoughtfully. Private equity gave us the resources to scale globally.”
His insights struck a chord with beauty founders, makeup artists, small-business owners, and aspiring influencers in the audience.
Ta expressed excitement about his first-ever visit to Nigeria, saying he felt “very well received.”
He praised Lagos’ creativity, energy, and fashion-forward culture.
“It’s my first time in Lagos, so I’m super excited to be here.”
From glow techniques to brand-building advice, Patrick Ta delivered a session that was both deeply practical and profoundly inspiring.
Attendees described his masterclass as:
“The perfect blend of artistry and business”
“One of the most engaging sessions of the weekend”
“A reminder that beauty is storytelling”.
