The ECOWAS Court of Justice will on 27 May 2026 officially launch its Strategic Plan 2026–2030, titled “Justice 2030,” marking a significant milestone in the Court’s efforts to strengthen justice delivery, enhance human rights protection, and advance the rule of law across the ECOWAS Community.
The Strategic Plan (2026–2030) provides a comprehensive roadmap to guide the Court’s operations over the next five years. It outlines key priorities aimed at improving judicial efficiency, expanding access to justice for Community citizens, strengthening regional legal harmonisation, enhancing institutional capacity, and deepening transparency and stakeholder engagement.
Through this new strategic framework, the Court seeks to address emerging challenges facing regional justice systems, including growing case volumes, complex human rights litigation, and the increasing need for digital transformation in judicial processes.
The launch will also serve as a platform for dialogue with partners and stakeholders on strengthening cooperation and mobilising support for the implementation of the Court’s strategic priorities. Expected guests include Heads of ECOWAS institutions and partner organisations.
The Strategic Plan underscores the Court’s continued commitment to delivering timely, impartial, and accessible justice, while strengthening its role as a key institution in safeguarding the rule of law and human rights within the ECOWAS Community.
The launch of “Justice 2030” reflects the Court’s determination to consolidate past achievements and position itself to effectively respond to the evolving justice needs of the ECOWAS region.
