Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to chair the 2021 Arewa House Lecture holding on Saturday in Kaduna.
On Thursday, at a press briefing in Kaduna, Director of Arewa House, Shaibu Aliyu, said the lecture will hold on Saturday, March 27 in Kaduna.
Aliyu said that the theme of the lecture is, ‘Governance and Youth Inclusion in Nigeria’s Development, Post COVID-19 Era’.
The director added that the lecture, which is the 11th edition, will take place at the Arewa House Banquet Hall, Kaduna.
He said the former Lagos State governor was chosen to chair the lecture after due careful deliberation and consultation.
The director said Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, who is the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, will serve as the Guest Speaker at the event.
According to Aliyu, the governor is expected to share his experience of governing Plateau and managing its conflicts.
Aliyu said the annual lecture remains a platform to discuss social and economic issues affecting the country.
“One of the major objectives of Arewa House is to promote national harmony and national unity, the lecture will serve as an avenue to reflect and discuss the history and cultures of the country,”he said.
According to him, COVID-19 protocols would be strictly observed while issues around the cost of governance will also be discussed.
He said the former governors that established Arewa House will be honored at the event. They include Abba Kyari, Musa Usman, Usman Faruk, JD Gomwak, and Audu Bako.
The Arewa House Lecture Series is organized every year in honor of one of the most distinguished founders of modern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and the late Sardauna of Sokoto.
The occasion provides a forum for prominent elder statesmen and other distinguished Nigerian to address issues of national importance.
