…As FRSC cautioned VIPs, motorists against replacement of Number plate with their pet names
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command on Monday arrested a total of 156 Traffic offenders for failure to install Speed Limiting Device in trucks and commercial vehicles within the State.
The Lagos Sector Commander Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide said in a statement in Lagos that the enforcement was carried out simultaneously across the State with focus on Speed Limiting Device violation,
Number plate violation, failure to properly passenger manifest by inter-state commercial vehicles.
The operations he stated commenced yesterday 8th June, 2021 as part of the Command’s intervention patrol aimed at achieving reduction in Road Traffic Crashes involving Articulated Trucks and Inter-state commercial vehicles.
The FRSC boss also stated that a total of 180 vehicles were stopped out of which 156 were issued tickets for various offences of 177 while 52 vehicles was impounded and 104 documents confiscated during the exercise.
In similar vain, the Command decries the recent trend by VIPs, Motorists who are fond of replacing their number plates with pet names.
The FRSC boss wishes to state that number plate has security features that should not be tampered with under any disguise.
“We have noticed a new trend of aberration and disregard to law and order. A situation where some Very Important Personalities (VIPs) and motorists change one of their Number Plates, which comes in pairs, with their pet names or their popular slogans can no longer be tolerated.
He notes that private/commercial number plates comes in pairs meant for both front and rear of the vehicle except for Articulated vehicle number plates that comes in three.
He further stated that all trucks owners that do not have capacity to adhere to miminum safety standards for their trucks should take their vehicles off Lagos roads to avoid being apprended.
He therefore advised all motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations.
