Nollywood actress and DG of ROK Studios, Mary Remmy Njoku has waded into the controversy surrounding blacklisting of actresses Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing Sunday by Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
DAILY POST had reported that TAMPAN in its notice suspending Iyabo Ojo, Nkechi Blessing accused the actresses of “reckless accusations, abuses and embarrassment of our sector“.
The communique noted that an offence against one is an offence against all, adding that the association will no longer tolerate “infringements”.
The TAMPAN BoT further declared that its action against Iyabo Ojo does not mean it supports acts of criminal behaviour in whatever guise.
But, Njoku in an Instagram post, reacting to the ban, said that there was nothing like overreaction when there are allegations of rape or child molestation.
Mary expressed disappointment in TAMPAN.
She commended the actresses for using their platforms to speak up against such acts.
Baba Ijesha: I cannot be silenced – Iyabo Ojo reacts to TAMPAN ban
Her post read, “Where there are allegations of rape or child molestation there is no such thing as overreaction. Today in Nigeria I don’t believe we are reacting enough.
“I stand with and want to thank these two strong women who have used their time and platforms to speak up against it. You both are my crush today and always.”
