Hon. Onuchukwu stated this on Wednesday during a press briefing at Chelsea Hotel, Abuja ahead of the Association’s conference.
“As you are all aware, one of the theme of the conference is: Improving grass-root leadership as a panacea for insecurity, peace and national development in Nigeria. It’s the local government at the grass-roots that’s most hit. We will give awards to some Nigerians who have impacted the development of local government such as the government of Sokoto state for it’s tremendously commitment and support at the grass-root” he said.
When asked about shutting down of schools as a result of insecurity. He said: “like I’ve said, that’s why every schools is in every local government, that’s why we have gathered in Abuja to discuss this issue critically and tell ourselves about the insecurity we are going through in our domain. Because they say every politics is local and every executive is local. For us, the insecurity is worst hit by the local government. These are the things we are going to discuss tomorrow at the conference and we will have a communique and proffer a solution which we would forward to appropriate bodies to look into”.
