The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday has reacted to the attack on the Jos Correctional Centre by suspected bandits on Sunday, November 28.
The party, in a statement, warned that jailbreaks had become a new trend which poses a great threat to the nation.
Sylvanus Namang, the Publicity Secretary in the State, commended security agencies for their gallantry.
State Chairman, Rufus Bature, said quick response and collaboration by operatives was key in the fight against insecurity.
The escaping inmates were arrested while one submitted himself to the police.
Bature demanded that the perpetrators of the latest incident must not be treated with kid gloves.
“They must be made to pay dearly for their action as a deterrent to other criminals in our midst,’’ he noted.
Bature called for re-strategising, remodelling and modernising of the correctional service system.
The politician further advised youths against allowing themselves to be used to destabilise Plateau.
