The Commissioner of Police, Delta state, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has reacted to a video making round on various social media handles. The video captured Policemen attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Command assaulting a young man along the Asaba-Onitsha expressway. The Command condemns the act of the Policemen in totality.
In a press statement e-signed and released to Gatmash News by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright stated that, “the Command wishes to state that the incident occurred sometime in the month of August 2021 and immediately it was brought to the knowledge of the Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+ directed the incident be looked into which has since been done and the erring Policemen indeed found guilty of assault and were subjected to internal disciplinary mechanism after which they were adequately sanctioned.
The CP while condemning the malfeasance conduct of the officers also urges members of the public to remain calm and assured of the Command’s commitment in dealing with any officer who disregard the human right of any person.
To this end, members of the public are urged to call any of the following numbers and report cases of abuse to human rights or any other infractions by Policemen of the Command.
