The 19 Northern states and Abuja branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has elected new officials to run the affairs of the chapter.
Rev Yakubu Pam was re-elected Chairman for another term of three years.
The election was held on Friday at CAN secretariat Kaduna.
Rev Joseph John Hayab, the former Public Relations Officer was now elected the Vice Chairman of the association.
The election was conducted by Barrister Samuel Kwamkur the National legal adviser, supported by Rev Dr Emmanuel Dziggau.
The new leaders were charged to work for the unity and progress of the church in Northern Nigeria.
The new chairman and his Vice pledged to defend Christians’ rights and work with other faith groups to promote peace in Northern Nigeria.
The association expressed concern about insecurity in the region and appealed to Northern governors to act more than talking.
The association also called on the Federal Government to intensify her efforts in bringing the challenge of insecurity to a permanent stop.
