The Delta State Police Command has arrested nine suspected killers of the Vigilante Commander, Zone 2, Sapele, Lucky Victor, aka Asikolo.
The vigilante commander was shot dead by gunmen along the Okpe Road, Sapele, on Saturday.
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased was inside his Sienna vehicle discussing with a trader when the hoodlums, who were said to be five in number and came in a tinted car without a number plate, opened fire on him
Speaking to our correspondent on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the command had arrested nine suspects.
He said, “Yes, it is true. As I speak to you, nine suspects have been arrested and investigation is ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the vigilance group, Voke Ubuara, expressed sadness at the incident, adding that Asikolo was trailed to where he was killed.
Ubuara noted that for the past seven years, hoodlums found it difficult to perpetrate crime through the waterways due to Asikolo’s security presence.
