Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Samuel Oyebode, on Tuesday, pledged support for the re-election of Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Oba Oyebode, who spoke on behalf of monarchs in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state when the governor and his entourage visited the town in continuation of his state tour, said Oyetola deserved another term in view of his achievements in the last three years.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ismail Omipidan, said the monarch noted that Oyetola’s sterling performance and blueprints spanning across sectors should be enough to earn him a second term.
The monarch said, “You are our own, no other place to go. We are from the same constituency. We are true sons and daughters of the land. The entire constituency is for you and your government as seen in the presence of all the traditional rulers and high chiefs in all the towns and villages in Odo-Otin Local Government.
“The monarchs are for you. We will do everything possible to support you and your ambition. I pray to God that your intention to run for second term will come to pass.”
Similarly, while receiving the governor in Boripe local government area, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi, boasted that the re-election of Oyetola has been sealed.
Oba Olabomi, who spoke on behalf of other monarchs in his palace in Iragbiji, said residents of the local government have begun door-to-door campaign for the governor prior to his official visit to the palace, adding that no stone would be left unturned to ensure his return.
In his remarks, Oyetola, who lauded the traditional rulers for their warm reception since the beginning of his tour across the local government areas in the state, said their actions were indications of the level of his acceptance.
He called on the people of the state, particularly the party leaders and members, to remain steadfast and focused as the governorship primary approaches.
