THE men of the Katsina State Police Command on Friday night repelled terrorists’ attack on Nassarawa-Bugaje village, in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
The attack was barely 48 hours after the terrorists struck at Magama-Jibiya, also in the council, on Wednesday, where the DPO for the area, Abdullahi Rano, was killed during a cross fire between security operatives and the terrorists.
The spokesman for the police command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the Friday attack on Nassarawa-Bugaje, revealed that the police were able to recover the 350 domestic animals earlier rustled from the village by the terrorists.
He explained that the police operatives received a distress call from the village about 4pm on Friday, subsequent upon which they rushed there and engaged the terrorists.
Isah further explained, “On Friday, February 11, 2022 at about 1600hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, on motorcycles, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Nassarawa-Bugaje village, Jibiya Local Government Area and rustled large number of domestic animals.

“Police patrol team, led by O/C Anti kidnapping unit, was dispatched to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. The operational strategy and tactics exhibited by the police team forced the hoodlums to retreat, abandoned their mission and took to their heels.
“The team succeeded in recovering all the rustled animals, comprising two hundred (200) cows and one hundred and fifty (150) sheep. In the course of scanning the scene, two new brand operational motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were recovered. Further more, some stolen provisions items were recovered. Investigation is ongoing.”
