Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to postpone its National Convention.
The APC had earlier fixed and announced Saturday, February 26 as the date to hold its National Convention but has now postponed it.
It is understood that the APC would now announce a new date for the conduct of its much-anticipated convention.
This is as the party has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that instead of its National Convention, it will be holding zonal congresses first.
The letter to that effect, dated Monday, February 21, 2022, and jointly signed by the chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, and secretary of the committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe was addressed to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Earlier, it was also reported that APC governors are expected to meet today (Monday) on the fate of the party’s national convention date.
The APC caretaker committee led by Governor Mai Mala Buni is said to have proposed a ‘plan’ to present to President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow Tuesday after reaching a conclusion today with the hope of postponing the convention to March 12, 2022.
Reacting to the development within APC, Senator Sani took to his Twitter page on Monday to mock the ruling party over its inability to conduct its convention.
He wrote: “The ruling party’s convention is like the Horizon; the closer you come to it, the farther it moves.”
