The Member Representing Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, has urged the management of the Heartland construction firm handling the reconstruction of the Umuahia Ikot Ekpene road to fix the failed session of the Federal highway before the return of the year 2022 rainy season.
Onuigbo, spoke while monitoring the progress of the ongoing road construction now under the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation road tax credit scheme.
He insisted that if adequate attention was not paid to the failed sessions of the road, to allow the easy passage of vehicles to and fro Akwa Ibom State, road users would face a huge challenge during the rainy season.
He said, “Those failed session needs to be taken care of to allow free passage of vehicles, before doing the final phase of the job.
“They must address the failed session around okwe axis before we get to the final phase of asphalting and I will still contact the higher management to address our request.
“If the job continues and vehicles going to Akwa Ibom can’t have easy access, it’s still a huge problem. I’m happy that work has started, as we have all seen it.
