The former caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress and the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, was on Thursday welcomed with a resounding ovation by a mass of people as he returned to the state.
Buni returned to his state a day after officially handing over office to the newly elected Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
According to Daily Trust, Damaturu the state capital, where Buni was received, was at a standstill with thousands of people from the 17 local government areas and the neighboring states of Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, and Bauchi.
Buni, who later spoke at a reception organised in his honour, lauded the people of the state, the North East, and the states in the country for giving him support as chairman caretaker committee of the party.
He concluded by asking members of the APC to support the new National Working Committee headed by Adanu so as to deliver the party in the 2023 elections.
Also speaking, the president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, lauded Governor Buni for resuscitating the party.
