The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Gombe, Ada Imoni, says cultural carnival would change the mindset of Corps members about the different regions and ethnic groups represented.
Imoni made this disclosure on Saturday, during the 2022 Batch A Stream II Cultural Carnival NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amanda, Gombe State.
Recall that the cultural carnival is one of the major events commemorated on camp during the compulsory three-week orientation course.
Our correspondent reports that the different dance steps and costumes displayed represented the Tiv, Tangale, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Efik, Urhobo, Benin, Fulani and Siyawa tribes.
The State Coordinator maintained that the programme was included in the course content to expose Corps members to the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria and also serve as an avenue for young Nigerians to cherish cultures and traditions other than theirs.
Imoni used the opportunity to commend the cordial working relationship between the NYSC and its collaborators, since February 2022 when the 2022 Batch A Stream I Orientation exercise began.
She said, “We started this sojourn in February with the 2022 Batch A Stream I Orientation Course and gradually, the Orientation course for the 2022 Batch A Stream II is coming to an end. We came from far and near, from different cultures and traditions and cohabited peacefully.”
However, there was also the presentation of plastic chairs and thermometers by the Corps medical personnel of the 2022 Batch A Stream II to the State Coordinator.
