A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mohammed Malagi, has donated grains and other items worth N27 million to the state’s Internally Displaced Persons.
Malagi, who made the donation on Tuesday in Minna, said the food items were meant to cushion the effects of the suffering faced by the IDPs.
The governorship aspirant, who was represented by the Coordinating Secretary of Malagi 2023 Governorship Organisation, Bala Marka, handed the items over to the Niger State Government for onward distribution to the IDPs.
Marka stated that the items included 450 bags of rice, 150 bags of maize, 150 bags of millet, and 50 Jerry cans of 25 litres of vegetable oil.
While responding, the Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Inga, appreciated the kind gesture from the aspirant, adding that he had been regular with donations to the IDPs.
“This is his second time of extending this type of humanitarian gesture to the IDPs in the state and we promise to do the needful with the donation,” he said.
