The Lagos State Government, on Tuesday, said it has paid over N585 million insurance benefits to families of deceased civil servants in the state.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr Rabiu Olowo, disclosed this during the presentation of insurance benefits to beneficiaries in Alausa, Ikeja.
Olowo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Debt Management Office in the ministry, Mrs Rukayat Sanusi, noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is passionate about the welfare of public workers.
He said, “The Lagos State Government presented over N585 million insurance benefits to 171 family members of deceased employees in the public service of Lagos State Government.
“It is an auspicious moment out of the very many we have experienced under the present administration. The governor is concerned about the welfare of all members of the Lagos State Government workforce, including those of their beneficiaries and their families at large because he recognises that the state workforce is the engine room and driver of all its policies. This is evidenced by the large sum of money paid to insurance companies as premium on an annual basis.
“My piece of advice to the various beneficiaries is to put this money into productive use and to the benefit of the children and other defendants of the deceased left behind.”
