Barely five days after Boko Haram killed ten persons in a beer parlour in Geidam, an explosive improvised device explosion has killed one person and injured seven others in another drinking joint in Gashua, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The seven injured persons are receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Gashua. The explosion occurred on Sunday night around 7:20pm at Abasha Gidan Amarya drinking joint when a heavy sound was heard which threw the entire residents of the town into pandemonium.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, confirmed the incident on telephone to The PUNCH.
“It looks like a coordinated attack targeted at drinking joint. Our EOD detectives are at the scene to find out what type of explosion and the cause of the explosion.
“There is one person that is confirmed dead with seven others as casualties. More details will come up after the investigation. Dungus noted,” Abdulkareem said.
