The Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Ogun State, Dr. Quudus Yusuff, has said the government will continue to fund hospitals to discourage health workers in the state from moving abroad for greener pastures.
Yusuff, in a statement on Thursday, was quoted to have spoken in Ijebu-Ode during his familiarisation visits to some health facilities in the zone.
The permanent secretary said the present administration in Ogun State had been working hard to discourage brain drain in the health sector.
He said, “Over a thousand approvals for recruitment had been received and implemented since the inception of this administration for the post of consultants, medical officers, nurses, pharmacists, scientific officers, health attendants, as well as interns, among others.
“The introduction of the Health Insurance Scheme to the downtrodden is another achievement of the government in healthcare financing, geared towards making healthcare accessible and affordable for indigents.”
The permanent secretary advised health workers that would want to travel for greener pastures to follow the civil service rules before quitting.
Responding, the Chief Medical Director, State Hospital Ijebu-Ode, Dr. Oluseye Adetola, appreciated the government for working assiduously to provide quality health services to the people.
