The Federal Road Safety Corps, Gombe State Command, has confirmed a fatal accident involving a motorcycle operator and a trailer, where one person was confirmed dead, following a strong wind that blew on Thursday.
Confirming the accident on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Janet Kassa, described the accident as a sad occurrence.
Kassa revealed that the motorcycle, popularly known as Achaba, was conveying a passenger before it collided with a trailer around Rainbow roundabout at the state metropolis.
Our correspondent reports that the Thursday evening wind caused dust, and set pandemonium in motion as motorists scampered for safety, with the thought that it would rain.
However, the situation which lasted for about 30 minutes, set people in panic stead as some relied on their headlamps to see clearly to avert more tragedies.
The FRSC spokesperson revealed that the deceased had been deposited at the Specialist Hospital morgue for proper identification before internment.
According to her, “I have confirmed the accident, three persons did not pass on, and one person died on the spot. It involved a trailer and a motorcycle rider and his passenger at the rainbow roundabout, the two survivors are receiving treatment as they sustained various degrees of injuries.”
Kassa called on passengers to continue to abide by safety measures while cautioning that the sector would not condone reckless driving.
