The Police Community Relations Committee in conjunction with the Ogun State Police Command on Thursday launched some security projects to combat insecurity in the Warewa area of the state.
The projects that were launched during the security summit include a police security tower, the PCRC secretariat, a mosque, among others.
During the summit tagged ‘Community policing in diverse and multi-ethnic environment,’ the Chairman, PCRC, Warewa Division, Nkem Atu-Femiakowe, said the project was to boost security in the area, adding that members of the community should be vigilant.
“We are all aware of the security challenges we are facing in Nigeria today. The reality of the challenges of security today requires the vigilance of everybody.
“This our area is prone to insecurity problems and challenges. In the Banku community, many people have been killed but God almighty helped us that today all those things have reduced and we can live in peace,” she said.
In his remark, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, who was represented by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adeniyi Adedeji, urged members of the community to collectively tackle insecurity in the area.
He said, “As we all know, a secured environment is a collective responsibility. Embrace love, peace, and unity to enable us to achieve the desired goals.”
Inaugurating the projects, the state Chairman, PCRC, Samson Popoola, unveiled the PCRC secretariat; police security tower; mosque, and a building extension for the DPO of Warewa Division, Abdulfattah Ogunsanya.
The security summit had religious clerics, security personnel, and residents in attendance.
