The Christian Association of Nigeria, Anambra Chapter, on Thursday, lamented over the worsening insecurity and unemployment in the countryy.
Reacting to the situation, during her first 2022 state executive council meeting held at the Basilica of Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, the state CAN leader on the state, Joseph Nweke, said that the only way out was for all to embark on fervent prayers.
Nweke said, “We have to intensify prayers. The high cost of living in this country is killing, even though we have marginally exited recession according to the National Bureau of Statistics in the fourth quarter of 2020.
“The alarming rate of poverty, youth unemployment, weak naira, outrageous exchange rate, rising consumer prices, deteriorating infrastructure and a near collapse of the system, all call for sober reflection.
“These economic malaises are even further compounded by the worsening insecurity in virtually every part of the country, widespread corruption and agitations from different regions of the country.
“Today, virtually every young person wants to relocate from the county thereby compounding the incident of brain drain. Let us pray fervently for our country and I am optimistic there is surely an end and the expectations of the righteous shall never be cut short.
“Let us do our own bit as responsible citizens and children of God by taking advantage of that little sphere of influence we control and foster positive change, he pleaded.”
