Two sides battling for survival will face off at the Dina Dipo Stadium in Ijebu-Ode on matchday 28 of the Nigeria Professional Football League when MFM FC host Kano Pillars in Lagos on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
It’s been a disappointing season for both teams with the Olukoya Boys languishing at the bottom of the table and have only amassed 24 points this season while four-time champions Pillars are shockingly occupying the 18th position with just 29 points.
MFM are without a win in their last five games having lost four and drawing one, a result that will be of great concern for interim coach, Christian Ikechukwu. He will however be buoyed by the visitors’ poor away record in the league.
The Sai Masu Gida, as they are fondly called, have suffered two consecutive defeats on the road.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s (today) game, Ikechukwu said the team’s objective remains the same and they will continue their quest to stay in the league.
“I am very confident that the club still stand a chance of surviving the relegation,” the coach told PUNCH Sports Extra.
