The Nigerian Army has reportedly stormed the shrine of the Eastern Security Network, in Orlu, Imo State, gunning down some of the ESN members and destroying the shrine.
It was gathered that the soldiers had conducted this in two different clearance operations.
Reports had it that the army also suffered two casualties in the operations.
The unrest in southeastern Nigeria had been a military conflict that broke out in the city of Orlu in 2021, at a time when the Nigerian Army moved to crush the ESN.
The ESN is a paramilitary organisation of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a pro-Biafra separatist movement.
The group was founded by the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, a political activist and advocate of the contemporary Biafran independence movement.
IPOB had been named a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian government in 2017 under the Nigerian Terrorism Act.
