Gunmen, on Tuesday night, attacked the home of the Chairman of the Council Area, Steve Orogwu, in Ịkwo Local Government Area, and killed three of his relatives.
The PUNCH equally gathered that the gunmen killed a security guard on duty and burnt down Orugwu’s family house.
It was learnt that the council boss was not at home when the gunmen struck the area and unleashed the mayhem.
A reliable source close to Mr. Orogwu told our correspondent that the hoodlums stormed the chairman’s home in Ekpaomaka, late on Tuesday night.

According to him, “They attacked my family compound at Ikwo at night and killed my elder brother, two of his sons, and a security guard.”
He further said the gunmen set ablaze the family’s house in the compound.
It was further gathered that the corpses of the victims had been taken to a mortuary in Abakaliki.
The South-East geopolitical zone, between Monday and Tuesday, observed the sit-at-home ordered by a splinter group of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Therefore, reasons for the attack could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report on Wednesday morning.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Loveth Odah, said she was away on an official assignment when reached by our correspondent for comments on the matter.
Odah was yet to respond to messages sent to her mobile by our correspondent on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
