The Katsina state chapter of the All Progressives Congress early Friday elected the immediate past Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises Agency of Nigeria, Dr Dikko Radda, as its candidate in the 2023 governorship election.
Radda beat other eight contestants to emerge the winner.
The Returning officer for the primary election, Barrister Kaka Lawa,n announced the result at the venue of the exercise, the Muhammed Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
Lawan said Radda polled 506 votes to beat other contestants.
The remaining contestants and the polls they secured were: the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Muhammed Inuwa, 442; the immediate past Managing Director, Nigeria Security and Printing Company, Alhaji Abbas Masanawa, 436; Musa Dangiwa,220; the immediate past state Commissioner for Budget Planning, Hon. Faruq Jobe, 71 votes; and the state Deputy Governor, Manir Yakubu, 65 votes.
Others and their scores were Abubakar Yaradua,32 votes; Alhaji Umar Baure,8 votes; and A. Dauda, 7 votes.
The Returning officer put the number of total votes cast at 1,801, adding that invalid votes were 10.
Lawan further disclosed that 1,805 delegates were accredited for the primary.
Dr Radda, in his remarks, thanked APC members for the victory.
