The Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation, Mr. Bayo Lawal, has been named as the running mate to Governor Seyi Makinde for the 2023 governorship election.
The announcement came hours after the incumbent Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Our correspondent gathered that Lawal was announced at a meeting held at the Government House on Tuesday.
The meeting was said to have had Makinde; former State Chairman of the PDP, Kunmi Mustapha; current Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro; Chairman, State Advisory Council, Hosea Agboola, party leaders, elders, and leaders from the Oke Ogun region in attendance.
The Publicity Secretary of the Party in the state, Akeem Olatunji, confirmed the announcement of Lawal to our correspondent on the telephone when contacted.
He said, “Yes, he (Lawal) has been announced as Governor Seyi Makinde’s running mate. “
